Though Prabal Gurung, Nicki Minaj and florals have gotten their fair share of attention at New York fashion week thus far, the will he or won’t he rumors surrounding Marc Jacobs and Dior are leading the gossip pack.

Neither LVMH or Marc Jacobs have commented on the rumors, which started about a month ago, but that hasn’t stopped WWD from spilling more details on the alleged negotiations.  A source tells them that talks have turned tough—though not so tough that anyone’s giving up—as Jacobs and his partner, Robert Duffy, ask for $10 million.  With couture collections added on top of ready-to-wear, as well as his own collections,Longchamp bestellen, Dior would prove substantially more work than Louis Vuitton and require more time in Paris for both Duffy and Jacobs—which means less time with the Marc Jacobs empire in New York.

The fashion crowd may be obsessed with the move, and what it’d mean for the rest of LVMH’s brand,Longchamp Embroidered, but investors are pretty nonchalant.  One banks’ head of consumer brands said, “In this day and age, for a brand the size of Louis Vuitton or Christian Dior, we tend to believe that artistic directors only account for a small portion of the brand’s attribute. We therefore do not immediately factor in a change in artistic director into our valuation of the brand.”

It’s not just Missoni’s collection for Target that gets its big release today; Tyra Banks’ debut novel,Arsenal Shirt 2012, Modelland, hits bookstores as well.

The reviews have not been too kind (you can cast judgment after reading an excerpt here). Though we have yet to read the entire book—running around New York City in towering heels for Fashion Week is punishment enough for one week—we think it might be wiser to stick with a few tried-and-true fashion fiction classics. Here, a few alternatives.

If you’d like some designer fan fiction, try: Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky
Were Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky lovers? We may never know, but this novel imagines what would have happened had the French cultural revolutionaries hooked up.

If you only read Pulitzer Prize-winning books, try: The Age of Innocence
There are entire books devoted to fashion in Edith Wharton’s writing, and this 1920 novel is a perfect example of why.

If you’re looking for a tell-all, try: The Devil Wears Prada
This book needs no introduction. But if you’ve only watched the movie, the book is worth reading for its inside look at the industry.

If you like a story with a bit of backstabbing, try: Bernice Bobs Her Hair
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s take on aspiring flappers gone wild. It’s short,Real Madrid Shirt 2012, but don’t put put it down until you finish reading the very last line.

If you’re looking for a book you can share with your 12-year-old niece, try: Violet on the Runway
Young adult fiction that gets the fashion and modeling world right. Not like we’ve read it or anything.

Although the Brooklyn Book Festival—New York’s largest free literary event—doesn’t happen until Sunday,Polo Fred Perry, you can find satellite events happening all around the city starting today. Between now and the end of the weekend,precio polo lacoste, Jay McInerney will be at City Winery, 3rd Ward is hosting a discussion titled “Marketing Literature in the Age of Gawker,” and City Harvest will launch its first artisanal market with appearances by cookbook writers (and impressive chefs) Melissa Clark and Frank Castronovo, among others.

But if a week of runway shows has left you not quite ready for, say, the PEN American Center’s literary pub quiz, consider stopping by the New York Public Library this afternoon for a book talk and signing by Kate and Laura Mulleavy.

The sisters Rodarte are celebrating the publication of Rodarte, Catherine Opie, Alec Soth, a monograph distributed by Artbook that explores their design work through the photographic work of Opie and Soth. Inside the book you’ll find Opie’s portraits of women you know (Jenny Shimizu, Riley Keough, Frankie Rayder) and don’t now modeling pieces from the 2008-2010 seasons. Soth’s photos were based off of the places in California that have had some impact on the Mulleavys, from Berkeley to Big Sur.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase, but you can also attend the free event if you’re really dying to know why they were inspired by Vincent van Gogh for spring ’12 or if Elle and Dakota Fanning fight like regular sisters when no one’s looking.

This is what Naomi Campbell’s new home looks like from the sky. Curbed calls it an “eco-palace,” because the place, on Turkey’s Isla Playa de Cleopatra, has solar panels, a green house, a geothermal energy system and “a mechanism that harvests rainwater and treats waste water.” It was built by Luis de Garrido, a Spanish architect known for building sustainable structures.  Here’s hoping she throws a party soon so we can get a view of the eyeball’s insides.

Kelly Wearstler’s new website went live this morning—and it’s shoppable!  The interior decorator turned designer’s worked her magic on an online shop that sells everything she makes, from silk dresses to marble books.   We got the inside scoop:

ELLE: When you launched your clothing collection, what was surprisingly hard?
KW: Every aspect is challenging from the design, having a signature voice, the production and the public relations—fashion is the most complicated business I know. Far more complicated than the hotel business or interior design and construction.

ELLE: And when you started working on the site?
KW: The most important thing was to have a point of view and a presentation that would keep your shopper intrigued and wanting to come back for more…I was involved in every detail from the layout,handbags love, to the photo shoot, the styling—the entire experience.

ELLE: What do you think will sell out first?
KW: I hope everything!

ELLE: Where do you shop online?
KW: My favorite websites are 1st Dibs, Wright Auction, Christies and Phillips new and archives.  Any many museum’s current and archive files are inspirational.

ELLE: How’d you recover from fashion week?
KW: A long hot bath with my boys,michael kors Shoulder Bags!

In a season full of Peter Pan collars,Longchamp Embroidered, it’s surprising it took this long for someone to think of dressing them up. At this year’s New York Comedy Festival, Seth Meyers and Ricky Gervais discussed possible future gigs; the former hopes to work with Betty White again, the latter hasn’t given up on hosting the Golden Globes one more time.

In a panel discussion with many of his Saturday Night Live writing team at the Paley Center for Media, Meyers said he would “love” to have Betty White return to the show.  The beloved actress hosted SNL right before Mother’s Day last year—thanks to a successful Facebook campaign—and it was a performance Meyers called “unbelievable.”  White’s episode gave SNL its highest ratings in 18 months.

Speaking at the 92nd St. Y, Gervais said NBC, which broadcasts the annual Golden Globes, had asked him to consider returning as host of the 2012 show.  Earlier this year, the British comedian was criticized for mocking the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (as well as a handful of nominated actors), which means that NBC may have a tough time convincing the association to invite him back for a second shot.  Gervais maintains that he was surprised that some people found his hosting “mean-spirited, or offensive or even controversial. It was primetime telly, you can’t do stuff that’s that controversial. If they saw my stand-up, their heads would explode.”

“What was I doing? It wasn’t a room full of wounded soldiers, it was the richest, most privileged people on the planet, and I was gently ripping them about one of their films,France Short,” he said.

Gervais also said that if “you’re doing anything that’s not completely anodyne, as many people will hate you as love you, and you’ve got to embrace that because it means you’re getting a reaction. The point of any art, even one as lowly as TV or film comedy,Ac milan shirts, is to make a connection…You’ve got to be bulletproof, you mustn’t worry about it.”

Didier Ludot, arguably the world’s biggest haute couture fanatic, has whipped up something slightly more accessible.  The Parisian legend’s collaborated with Petite Bateau on two little black dresses, each inspired by his favorite style stars.
